Sunday morning, still raining.....

We woke to the sound of really hard rain in the middle of the night, but then went back to sleep. It was raining again when we woke up, but it's stopped now. While we were having breakfast we heard the wonderful sound of the church bells ringing - it was wonderful. Can't go to church, though - still no clothes. We did find out there's an LDS chapel in Guilford, where we were yesterday, and I'm sure they'd take us in pants, but we feel too grungy to go to church. We did get an automated message by phone today that our luggage should be delivered to us by 11:45 this morning, and it's almost 11 now, so we're hopeful.

After our luggage comes this morning we're headed for Suffolk to stay with Pam's sister. In Suffolk is the town of Beccles, where my third Great Grandpa Barber was born. Looking forward to seeing more of the beautiful English countryside. Hopefully, in clean clothes, but either way, we'll see it.

Last night for supper we had lamb stew and lentil stew, with baked potatoes and vegetables. I just want it on record that there was squash in the lentil stew, and I ATE IT! I should get extra points for that. I've also had a fruit tea 2 mornings in a row, and it didn't taste half bad - reminds me of my mission in Sweden, trying to get myself to like herbal tea so I can feel like I'm at least trying to fit in.

I think I'm going to go outside and walk around the neighborhood for a while before we leave. Want to do some more exploring. Through the pasture across from the house here I can see another graveyard - I'd like to wander over that way and see where it is. I also love to walk along the street and look at the small shops and the hanging baskets of flowers hanging along the streets everywhere. I'll try to write in here when I can - don't know where we will have internet access, etc. After we go to Suffolk, we'll be going on from there to Sussex, where Sue lives, who is the other cousin Mom was in contact with, and where my Great Great Grandpa Hope came from. We'll be there for about a week, and then we go to Scotland.

Talk to you later - I'll put in more pictures when I get them. Gayla

Squash and lentils in the stew and you ate both. Good girl!! Did you like it or did you just tolerate it?
