A bump in the road...

Well, today didn't turn out quite the way we'd planned it. We set off for Lewes, where Sue had reserved 3 seats at the record office. We were supposed to spend a few hours looking at original records and just doing a bunch of research for our ancestors that way. (Doesn't EVERYONE spend part of their English vacation in the records office???) We had Ron (yes, his name is Ron, but I try not to hold that against him!) and Sue in the front, Mom and I in the back, and, of course, the 2 dogs in the back of the car. As we drove, we passed a set of big hills called the Downs where there is a huge Brass Age drawing on the hill. It's called the Long Man of Wilmington - it's like a stick figure of a man holding a long stick in each hand. I'll get a picture of it later and show it to you. As we drove along, the traffic started getting really thick and slowing down, and as we got in front of the Barley Mow Pub suddenly the car in front of us slammed on his brakes, as did we. We jerked forward from that, and suddenly there was a huge CRASH and jolt, and we were slammed into from behind and we were thrown forward again. The dogs were completely quiet, and I said, "the dogs!" and jerked around to the back, expecting to see dead dogs. They were fine, just very shook up, as were we. I discovered that the impact had knocked off my headband - it was lying on the floor at my feet. All of us grabbed our necks, because that was what we felt first. I, however, was also hit from behind in the lower hip - I think it was probably the floor of the back section coming forward, because it looks like all our seats are crooked. So, we are all shook up, it took the dogs quite a while to stop shaking. I hurt more now across my back between my shoulders, so I guess getting hit across the hip threw something out up higher. Mom says she's fine, and doesn't feel like anything is hurt - the rest of us have headaches, muscle aches, etc, but we're ok.
The dogs have seen the vet and we went to the hospital to be checked out for insurance purposes. Which, of course, brings us to the next picture of our amazing adventure: This is Mom and I sitting in the Emergency room of an English hospital. Don't get too excited about how cool this is. I'll bet you're all really jealous that YOU never got to visit an English Emergency Unit, aren't you!! Yes, people DID look at me rather strangely when I took a picture of us there, but since we didn't get to do any sightseeing today, this is all I have, sorry.
I was sent to get a prescription for pain and a muscle relaxer, which ought to really make me sleep, I understand, but so far I seem to be the one most affected. Lucky me. I think it will be ok, I got drugs, and my chiropractor's appointment was for the next Monday after we get back anyway. He'll be so excited. Well, that's all I've got for today, folks. Tomorrow is the family reunion, and we will be getting picked up by Pam & Roger and Barbara & Doug, since we now have no car to be run around in. We'll all be stiff and sore and walking funny, but we'll be there. Hopefully, tomorrow's entry will have better pictures and more fun adventures. In the meantime, I'm eating my chinese food so I can take my drugs and then I'm going to bed. And Mom though I snored LAST night! Wait till she hears what muscle relaxers do for me! Love you all - we're just fine. Talk to you tomorrow.

You guys get to find out this afternoon by the blog, I got to find out this morning getting woke up out of a sound sleep. (WHAT A WAY TO START THE MORNING)

I'm glad that you are checked out and are resonably O.K. other than having your seats a little crooked. A quick little shift should straighten you right out, or are we talking about different seats?

As for the photos, there is nothing worse than a smashed bucket!
